thanks for such a great site!! I am related to Anne DALTON who was indentured servant that came from Ireland about 1748. Her son Henry,Revolutionary War, moved to Clinton Furnace,WV about 1790. I am a direct descendant of John Luther Dalton, son of Charles Dalton and John Dalton, the first of our line in America (came from Wales via England at the time of the French and Indian Wars). My grandfather, James Lawrence Dalton, was John Luther's youngest son. My mother is the oldest surviving member of this branch of the family line. There is a published work on the Dalton family history based on information John Luther Dalton personally researched in England and Ireland during the late 1800s. It is in my mother's possession and MAY be available through a local genealogy library. It was published in the mid-1960s by a Mark Ardeth Dalton. There is a LARGE misconception about John Luther Dalton. While he did have two wives, Mary Elizabeth Studer and later Amy Edgley, he never lived in polygamy with them and Amy Edgley NEVER lived in the "famous" Dalton mansion on Madison Avenue in Ogden Utah. |

My maternal great grandmother was a Theresa Dalton (sp?). She gave birth to a Gabriel Clarke in c1907. It is believed that Gabriel's father was killed in a mine in Cuba/canal construction in Panama. Theresa Dalton then returned to Jamaica and married a ? Bryan and had four further children. When Mr Bryan died she had a child by a Mr McClary. Theresa Dalton had two brothers Dee and Deacon Simeon Dalton (established the Whitehorses Baptist Church, St Thomas, Jamaica). Deacon Simeon Dalton married a Katherine Hardy (from Portland?). Katherine and Deacon Simeon Dalton had two sons: Nathan and Horatio (Dick) and five daughters: Moira, Alice, Rhoda, Marina and Dora. |

I'm looking for William Dalton b. 1796 in NC or KY who moved to Madison Co., MO around 1816 and then on to Ripley Co., MO in 1828 and died between 1834 and 1839. My gr-gr-gr-grandfather was John Elijah Dalton who married Susannah Sebastian. Their 8 children are: William, Lewis, John P. "Jack", David, Sarah, Elijah, Dinah, and Mariah. John Elijah settled on the south fork of Fourchee Creek, south of Doniphan near the AR border and operated a water mill until his death in 1842. |

My grandfather was James I. Dalton, born 1899 in Janesville, WI. His father was John Dalton, born 1852 in NY and his father was John Dalton born 1827 in County Kerry, Ireland. That is about as far as I go back right now; outside of the fact that his mother was Margaret, born abt 1800 Ireland. From information on this site for John Sr, 1900 Monroe, WI it states that John was naturalized under his father. So that probably puts their date of arrival around 1840 and that he probably married his wife Mary Leahy in NY about 1850. |

What a great site. I am researching Mary Dalton b:1859 (approx) Ireland,(although I don't know where). Mary is the daughter of James Dalton and is known to have a sister Kate who was a witness to her marriage. Mary was living at 36 Hope St, Hulme Manchester, Lancs. For any of you who are descended from Peter Dalton and Nancy Naulty and Peter McGovern and Mary Casey, all of County Meath, Ireland -- I have a number of old letters written to Mathew William Dalton by: his father John J. Dalton & stepmother Nancy Ann Carroll; his brothers George and Peter; his half brother Phillip, his sister Jane, and from friends in the Wyocena, Wisconsin area. They are very interesting and provide some family history. Also, I have a copy of a notebook in which Mathew William Dalton recorded his notes on family gathered on a trip to Ireland in 1892. According to the notebook, he was able to go back three generations beyond Peter Dalton & Nancy Naulty! At any rate, I am happy to share any of these documents. In case you don't know, Mathew William was the son of John J. Dalton & Mary McGovern. John J.'s parents were Peter Dalton & Nancy Naulty; Mary McGovern's were Peter McGovern and Mary Casey. |

My Great Great Grandmother was Agnes Dalton she was married to Patrick Quin and they lived in Creenagh Armagh Ulster he never left there but she came to live with her son also Patrick Quin in Noble Street Elswick Newcastle upon Tyne and she lived only one year 1876 and died there we know four of her children lived in that area....it is belived they were a large family and some went to America and Australia.... I live in hopes of anyone descened from an Agnes Dalton married to Patrick Quin getting in touch or if anyone knows of any birth details of an Agnes Dalton |
